Clearwater is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida, USA, nearly due west of Tampa and northwest of St. Petersburg. It is the county seat of Pinellas County. Clearwater is the smallest of the three principal cities in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area, most commonly referred to as the Tampa Bay Area.
Clearwater Beach is the Best City Beach on the Gulf of Mexico according to Dr. Stephen Leatherman (“Dr. Beach”), a Florida International University professor who has been ranking America’s beaches for well over a decade. USATODAY.com readers have ranked Clearwater Beach in the Top 10 List of Best Beaches from Maine to Hawaii. Conde Nast Traveler has also recognized Clearwater Beach as the Best City Beach on the Gulf of Mexico, and the Travel Channel has declared Clearwater Beach the Best Activity Beach in the United States.
Caladesi Island is currently the #1 Best Beach in the United States, ranked so primarily for its water quality, rustic charm, clean beaches, on-site amenities and its emphasis on wildlife. Pinellas County is the only Florida destination which can say it has two #1 Best Beaches; Ft. DeSoto Park was ranked the #1 Best Beach in 2005.
Clearwater is very proud to be designated a Blue Wave Beach. This certification program, overseen by the Clean Beaches Council , promotes beaches which are managed to protect their natural assets. This designation assists the public in identifying the nation’s cleanest and safest beaches. Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island and Sand Key Park have also received the Blue Wave designation.

Beaches - Of course the beaches are favorites to many. In addition to Clearwater Beach there are many beaches and beach parks along the west coast of Florida.
Sports - Bright House Networks Fields is home to the Philadelphia Phillies for their spring training. Tickets are available at the ballpark located on the west side of U.S. 19 just north of Drew Street.
Libraries - The libraries of Clearwater are well equipped with a variety of interests. Those who want to some silent time off and to settle with books, Clearwater’s convenient and rich libraries are indeed a feast. Some of the notable public libraries at the city are the Main Library at the Osceola Avenue, Beach Library at the Mandalay Avenue, Countryside Library at the State Road 2741, East Library at the Drew Street, and North Greenwood Library at the Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium - A small but interesting animal and aquarium facility where one can see rescued, live dolphins, otters, and sea turtles. This nonprofit facility is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured marine mammals.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium also offers Sea Life Safari Eco-Tours, which take visitors on a two-hour cruise of the intracoastal waters, where they can look for dolphins and seabirds and enjoy hands-on experiences with sea critters.
Animal Exhibits: Dolphin Shows, Turtle Bayou, Westside Turtles, Turtles Yet Again, Fish, Sharks, Stingray Beach, Otter Land, Rehab Areas, Animal Kitchen, Education Rooms, Waterside Deck, Outside Mangroves. Vacationers can see dolphins, turtles, otters, fish & sharks, stingrays, nurse shark, gray snapper, sea bass, snook, red drum, black drum, sheepshead, pinfish, red grouper, hogfish, stingrays.

Swims and Rides: For people who love swims and rides, three places at the Clearwater beach are noteworthy. The versatile Clearwater Municipal Marina houses a wide collection of fishing and charters, dinner cruises, sightseeing boats, parasailing, personal watercraft, and dolphin tours.
Sail at the Bay: The coastal experience at the Clearwater beach is greatly enhanced by boats and cruises. Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise, All Queen Fleet Boats, and Kai Lani 50 catamaran offer wonderful cruise and day charter fishing experiences. Hopping into one of the boats, catamaran or cruises, individuals, families or parties can have tons of fun and entertainment on the sea getting the most out of the holiday.
Biking - Much of the area is bicycling friendly offering bike lanes and trails. The Pinellas Trail is a 34 mile greenway corridor traversing throughout the region.
