So for vacationers in groups have a good choice. Most of the vacation rental properties come alongwith golfing facilities. Good news for the pet owners planning to travel with their pets and handicapped as a good number of the vacation rental properties have facilities for them.

Amelia Island is one of the southernmost of the Sea Islands located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, north of Jacksonville by about 30 miles, a chain of barrier islands that stretches along the east coast of the United States from South Carolina to Florida. It is 13 miles (21 km) long and approximately 4 miles (6 km) wide at its widest point. Amelia Island is situated south of Cumberland Island, Georgia, off the coast of Florida in Nassau County. Fernandina Beach and Amelia City are both located on the island. On Amelia Island's northern tip, guarding the pass into Cumberland Sound and the deep water port of Fernandina for over 150 years or so is Fort Clinch. Construction on the fort began in 1847 but was never completed. Fort Clinch sits inside the Fort Clinch State Park which is 1,153 acres of heavily wooded natural lands and seashore.

Visitors to Amelia Island, Florida can tour many local cities by car. Jacksonville, Yulee, Mayport and the beach towns of Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach are all within a 30-45 minute ride. The historic city of St. Augustine is about an hour away and Daytona Beach about 90 minutes. This area can be accessed best by aircraft from the Jacksonville International Airport (30 minutes).

Known as the "Isle of Eight Flags", it has had the following flags flown over it since 1562: France, Spain, Great Britain, Spain (again), the Patriots of Amelia Island, the Green Cross of Florida, Mexico, the Confederate States of America, and the United States. In colonial history, it became known for an episode called the Amelia Island Affair. Amelia Island was the final location of Santa Catalina de Guale, the main mission of Spanish Florida to the Guale chiefdom.

Amelia Island is located at Florida's northeastern shore, just 15 miles east of Interstate 95, and is a short, 30-minute drive from Jacksonville International Airport. Two bridges connect the island with the mainland.

Less than 30 minutes from Amelia Island, Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) links Northeast Florida with cities across the United States and abroad. American Airlines/American Eagle, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, US Airways, Air Canada, Northwest Airlines and United Airlines are among the carriers that service Jacksonville.
